… the history, the nature so grateful here, the uncontaminated environment, make possible a never boring stay, discovering an unique territory
PITIGLIANO
Characteristic Etruscan and Medieval village, rises along the crest of a tufaceous promontory of a wild beauty; its houses seem to grow directly from the tufa. Pitigliano is also known as “the little Jerusalem” because of its settlement of a thriving Jewish Community https://www.facebook.com/groups/218485148343189/?ref=ts&fref=ts (2′ 21 ”)
The Etruscan presence can be traced on the “Vie Cave”, a kind of deep tufa rock canyons where walk trough along many footpaths. Many necropolis skirt along the Vie Cave. Medieval and Renaissance inheritances can be seen in the “Orsini Castle“, in the Medici aqueduct and in the maze of alleys of the town historical center. https://www.facebook.com/groups/218485148343189/?ref=ts&fref=ts (3′ 22”)
SORANO
In few minutes SORANO with its alleys, its archaeological areas (very suggestive agglomerate of Vitozza, rocks and grottoes dwelt since medieval time) and the monumental complex of the Orsini Fortress
SOVANA
Not far is SOVANA, authentic jewel of the Fiora hills, where time seems tobe unreal; is the main entrance of the “archeological park of the tufa cities” with the most important Etruscan finds
SATURNIA
Saturnia can be reached in 20 minutes. Fascinating are the famous “cascatelle” natural thermal water falls (800 lt/sec 37°) where to find a little place in the “limestone holes” isn’t always so easy…but not to be missed during the stay. Not far is Montemerano, not to be missed
Widening slightly the radius, Bolsena, Civita di Bagnoregio (the “dying village”), Orvieto and Viterbo Tuscia with Tuscania, Vulci and Tarquinia.
